Born in Brooklyn in 1958, Slam Suliman was destined for a life of crime. But when he discovered punk rock, he found a new way to express himself. In 1977, he formed the band The Fists, who quickly became one of the most popular punk bands in New York City.

The Fists' music was raw, angry, and political. They sang about the problems of the working class, the dangers of drug abuse, and the hypocrisy of the government. Their songs resonated with young people all over the country, and soon The Fists were one of the most popular punk bands in the world.

But Slam's success came at a price. He struggled with drug addiction and mental illness, and his relationships were often tumultuous. In 1985, The Fists broke up, and Slam's career seemed to be over.

But Slam didn't give up. He eventually got sober, and in 1996, he formed a new band, Slam Suliman and the Cheapskates. The Cheapskates played a more mature and sophisticated brand of punk rock, but they still had the same raw energy and passion as The Fists.
