Early Life
Clint Eastwood was born in San Francisco, California, on May 31, 1930. His father, Clinton Eastwood, Sr., was a steel worker, and his mother, Margaret Ruth Runner Eastwood, was a homemaker. Eastwood had an older sister, Jeanne.
Eastwood grew up in a working-class family, and he attended Oakland Technical High School. After graduating, he worked as a lumberjack and a lifeguard before deciding to pursue a career in acting.
Early Career
Eastwood's first acting role was in the 1955 film Revenge of the Creature. He went on to appear in a number of small roles in films and television shows before landing his breakthrough role in the 1959 Western Rawhide.
Rawhide was a critical and commercial success, and it made Eastwood a star. He went on to star in a number of other popular Westerns, including The Magnificent Seven (1960),A Fistful of Dollars (1964),and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966).
Stardom
In the 1970s, Eastwood began to transition from Westerns to other genres. He starred in the action film Dirty Harry (1971),which was a huge commercial success. He also directed and starred in the Western High Plains Drifter (1973) and the action film Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (1974).
In the 1980s, Eastwood continued to direct and star in a variety of films, including the crime thriller Sudden Impact (1983),the Western Pale Rider (1985),and the action thriller The Rookie (1990).
Later Career
In the 1990s, Eastwood began to receive critical acclaim for his work as a director. He directed and starred in the Western Unforgiven (1992),which won four Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. He also directed and starred in the crime thriller Mystic River (2003),which won two Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
In recent years, Eastwood has continued to direct and star in a variety of films, including the war film Letters from Iwo Jima (2006),the crime thriller Changeling (2008),and the Western The Mule (2018).
Personal Life
Eastwood has been married three times. His first marriage was to Maggie Johnson from 1953 to 1984. They had two children, Kyle and Alison.
Eastwood's second marriage was to Dina Ruiz from 1996 to 2014. They had one child, Morgan.
Eastwood's third marriage was to Christina Sandera from 2013 to the present.
