Born in Bologna, Italy, in 1966, Zanardi grew up with a passion for racing. He began his career in karting, and quickly rose through the ranks, winning the Italian Karting Championship in 1988. From there, he moved on to Formula 3, where he won the championship in 1991. In 1992, he made his Formula 1 debut with the Jordan team. Although he failed to score any points in his rookie season, he impressed the team with his speed and determination.
In 1993, Zanardi moved to the Lotus team, where he enjoyed his greatest success in Formula 1. In 1993, he finished third in the Monaco Grand Prix, and in 1994, he won the Italian Grand Prix. However, his Formula 1 career was cut short in 1999, when he was involved in a horrific crash at the German Grand Prix. The crash left him with severe leg injuries, and he was forced to retire from the sport.
Undeterred, Zanardi refused to give up on his racing dreams. In 2001, he returned to racing in the CART series, where he won two championships in 2001 and 2004. In 2007, he made his IndyCar debut, and in 2011, he won the Indianapolis 500. Zanardi's return to racing was an inspiration to millions of people around the world, and proved that anything is possible with determination and perseverance.
'At Speed' is more than just a racing autobiography. It is a story of triumph, adversity, and the human spirit. Zanardi's writing is honest, raw, and inspiring. He shares his deepest fears and darkest moments, as well as his greatest joys and triumphs. 'At Speed' is a must-read for any fan of motorsport, or for anyone who is interested in an inspiring story of overcoming adversity.
